The ChatGPT Manifestation Prompt (and How to Make It Better)
In the ChatGPT manifestation trend, you describe your dream life and the AI writes you a full day inside it, in second person and full of sensory detail. It can be surprisingly moving. It works best with a detailed prompt, a few rounds of refining and one small real step at the end.
The trend: "I asked ChatGPT to write a day in my dream life and I cried"
Starting in fall 2024, a format took off on TikTok: people told ChatGPT about their dream life and asked it to write a full day inside it. Waking up in a sunlit bedroom, coffee on the balcony, work that feels meaningful, an evening with favorite people. Plenty of people read the result and got unexpectedly emotional. For the first time, they saw in black and white what their life could feel like.
Why does it hit so hard? Because it's personal. It has your city, your people, your hopes in it. And because it's written in second person, it reads like an invitation: this could be you. Psychologically, it's close to a well-studied exercise called the best possible self, vividly imagining your best possible future. A meta-analysis of 29 studies found it boosts optimism and positive emotion.
The copy-and-paste prompt
The more you give ChatGPT, the better the result. Copy this template, fill in the brackets and skip anything that doesn't apply:
Write me a visualization of an ordinary day in my dream life, about three years from now. Write in second person and present tense, calm and warm, using all five senses (sight, sound, smell, touch, taste), with times of day from waking up to falling asleep. End each scene with a feeling, not an object. Avoid clichés and exaggeration. It should sound believable and within reach.
About me: [age and how you live right now, in one sentence]
Home: [city, type of home, what you see out the window]
Work: [what you do, who with, how a good workday feels]
People: [partner, friends, family, pets, with names if you like]
Body and health: [how you move, eat, sleep and feel]
Free time: [hobbies, places, rituals]
The main feeling of this life: [e.g., calm, freedom, connection]
One detail that matters most to me: [e.g., "I read on the balcony in the evening"]
At the end, include a short moment of gratitude for the path that led here, and one concrete first step I can take today.

Refine it in rounds until it's truly yours
The first draft is rarely perfect. It often sounds too polished, too generic or a little too glossy. The beauty of ChatGPT is that you can push back. Three or four rounds make a huge difference.
Round 1: Fix what's off
Read it and notice where something in you says "nope." Then write something like: "I don't drink coffee, I drink tea. And I don't live in a penthouse, I live in an old apartment with creaky wood floors."
Round 2: More senses, fewer things
"Spend less time on what I own and more on how it feels. What do I smell in the morning? What does my neighborhood sound like?"
Round 3: Adjust the tone
"Make it calmer, with shorter sentences and pauses, so it can be read aloud slowly." Or: "Fewer superlatives. It should feel believable."
Round 4: Build in the path
"Add a scene where I remember how I started, back where I am today." That links your future to the present.
Save the best version. Read it in the morning or evening, slowly and ideally out loud.
Where a ChatGPT dream day falls short
As lovely as it is, the ChatGPT dream day has a few weak spots that many people notice after trying it.
- It's short. Most texts take two or three minutes to read. That's brief for a deeper visualization.
- There's no frame. You jump from daily life straight into the scene and then straight back to your phone. A calm entry, for example through your breath, helps you actually feel the scene. A closing with gratitude and a plan helps you carry it into your day.
- Reading isn't listening. Reading with your eyes open is different from closing your eyes and letting images form while a voice guides you. Many people find a voice helps them stay with it.
- Fantasy without action. Gabriele Oettingen's research shows that indulging in an idealized future can actually lower motivation. That's why a concrete step belongs at the end, ideally as an if-then plan.
- Privacy. You're sharing very personal details with a chatbot. Leave out full names, addresses and health specifics if you're unsure.
How to get more out of your dream day
- Settle in: Before reading, take a few slow breaths: a double inhale through the nose, then a long exhale through the mouth. In a 2023 study, five minutes a day of this "cyclic sighing" noticeably improved mood.
- Read slowly or have it read to you: Most phones can read text aloud. Or record yourself.
- Stay with the feeling: After reading, close your eyes and hold the strongest feeling from the text for another minute.
- Plan one step: "If I get home today, then I'll..." More in our guide to implementation intentions.
Those four steps turn a nice piece of writing into a small daily practice. For a full walkthrough of the format, see the day in the life visualization.
How Bhava takes the idea further
Bhava grew out of exactly this trend: out of a ChatGPT dream day that was moving but too short and had no frame around it. In Bhava, you describe your dream life and the AI turns it into a longer, personal guided visualization. You can refine it in rounds until every detail feels right. Before and after the scene come fixed, research-based blocks: calm breathing and a heart focus to settle in, gratitude and an if-then plan to close. Later, the visualization will come as audio, so you can close your eyes and simply listen. Bhava hasn't launched yet, and there's a waitlist.
The bottom line
Having ChatGPT write your dream day is a wonderful way into manifestation. It's free, fast and shows you what you really want. Add a good prompt, a few rounds of refining, a calm way in and one real step at the end, and the trend becomes a practice that actually carries you.
FAQ
How do I use ChatGPT for manifestation?
Describe your dream life to ChatGPT in concrete detail and ask for a day inside it, written in second person, present tense and with all your senses. Refine the text over three or four rounds and finish by planning one small real step.
What is a good ChatGPT manifestation prompt?
A good prompt sets the tone (calm, warm, believable), the perspective (second person, present tense), the structure (times of day from morning to night) and details from each area of your life. You can copy the template in this article directly.
Is it normal to cry when reading my ChatGPT dream day?
Yes, it happens to a lot of people. The text often shows you, clearly and for the first time, what you truly want. That's a sign of clarity, not something to worry about.
What are the limits of a ChatGPT dream day?
The texts are usually short, have no calm opening or closing and are read rather than heard. They also tend to skip the step into action. A breathing warm-up and an if-then plan make up for part of that.
